The Update

I’ve been working on editing and revising the Running in Silence book project every day. This has been a long process. Once I divided everything into chapters (there are 65 right now), I assigned myself to revise/edit a chapter a day. Little did I know how much I would get stuck on a few chapters, spending as much as two weeks going back over the same one to edit and revise.

Looking back on the past can be difficult, but it is helpful, too. I think it is a therapeutic process going over these past events to better understand who I was, and finally put them to rest.

Chapters still need to be re-arranged, useless information needs to be taken out, and events need to be enhanced with the emotions and thoughts I felt at the time. But at this point, the major editing is finished. I can confidently say that I no longer feel the pull to write about food, and somehow things just came together for the ending.

I will continue to post updates as I take on this publishing journey; I appreciate the support tremendously!

So inspired by you Rachel! Your introspection is inspiring, as is the fact that you’ve taken on this writing project! I can’t wait to read it! It’s so true that having the project gives us an obligation to create an ending we’re proud of– for that reason alone I agree we should all be writing our hearts out. And you’re right, it’s hard to look back on the past, but I do think it is so so so worth it. Keep it up!

Hi Rachel! So this is awkward, Effie was my pseudonym…I was a bit too shy to use my real name. However, here I am, and I still think your blog is great/we still have lots in common. I can’t wait until your book is ready so keep up with the revising!
